Nour Wazzi – Emerging Filmmakers Showcase

A film screening + director Q&A celebrating the works of award-winning director, Nour Wazzi. Chaired by BAFTA winning screenwriter Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan.

Tipped as a future star on BBC’s 2017 hotlist, JBA awardee Nour Wazzi has collaborated on a number of award-winning features (e.g. OSCAR nominee ‘Waste Land’) and shorts over the last 14 years. Most recently she directed on the BBC mini-series ‘The Break’, co-wrote, produced and directed the DFI-backed short thriller ‘Baby Mine’ and the sci-fi thriller ‘Lab Rat’. She’s also just directed a pilot for the techno-thriller series ‘The Moderators’ starring Yasmin Paige (’Submarine’) and Sai Bennett (‘Mr Selfridge’).

BABY MINE (2017)

When a Middle Eastern man kidnaps a young girl, her distraught mother blindly recruits a prejudiced neighbour to hunt them down. Starring Alexander Siddig (‘Syriana’), Olivier nominee Rachael Stirling (’Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’), Alex Ferns (‘Joyeux Noel’) and Grace Taylor (‘Marcella’)


UP ON THE ROOF (2013)

A bittersweet tale of love and innocence lost. Starring Maisie Williams (‘X-Men: The New Mutants’), Earl Cameron (’The Interpreter’) and Michael Matias (‘The Bodyguard’ Musical). Backed by Film London.

SHACKLED (2012)

Set in a 1950s circus, a fortuneteller’s escape plan begins to crumble as she doubts her reality. Starring Emilia Clarke (‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’). Proof of concept.

HABIBTI (2010)

A conservative Muslim mother butts heads with her daughter’s black boyfriend. Starring Hiam Abbass (‘Blade Runner 2049’), Yasmine Al Massri (‘Caramel’) and Jimmy Akingbola (‘In The Long Run’). Backed by Film London.
